Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at the Plume of Feathers, Barlaston.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced chef looking to take the next step in their career within a busy, fresh-food kitchen. Working closely with our Head Chef, Senior Sous and wider leadership team, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day running of service while continuing to develop your skills and confidence in a senior position.

As a Junior Sous Chef, you’ll be involved in all aspects of kitchen operations, helping to maintain high standards during both prep and service.

This is an entry-level senior role within the brigade, and we are happy to continue developing the right person further. We value attitude, reliability and willingness to learn just as much as experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

 Preparing and cooking fresh mains dishes to order
 Supporting the running of the mains section during busy services
 Working with fresh ingredients while maintaining excellent food quality and presentation
 Assisting senior chefs and supporting the wider kitchen team throughout service
 Stock rotation and maintaining correct food storage procedures
 Checking in and putting away deliveries
 Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment
 Completing food safety and compliance records
 Supporting the Head Chef with menu development, specials and new dish ideas
 Helping maintain consistency, communication and organisation throughout the kitchen.

What We’re Looking For

 Minimum 2 - 3 years’ experience working within a professional kitchen

 Passion for food and cooking

 Positive attitude and willingness to learn

 Friendly, reliable and a strong team player

 Ability to stay calm and work efficiently under pressure

 Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions

 Open-minded and adaptable to the way our kitchen operates

 Strong work ethic and willingness to support the wider team

Availability Requirements

Applicants must be flexible and available to work:

 Weekdays and evenings

 Weekends

 Peak trading periods including bank holidays, Easter and school holidays

 Busy seasonal trading periods as required
