Overview
This is an opportuntiy for someone who wants to take the next step in developing what they already know. The ideal candidate will join an experienced team and will develop his or her skills through hands on learning and also through more formalised internal and external training. This role requires a good understanding of animal behaviour, excellent communication skills, the desire to grow as a leader and the ability to work flexibly, under supervision or alone with confidence. You will also need a good sense of humour and a smile.
About Us
We are a 600 cow family dairy business milking twice a day through a 40:40 herringbone parlour. Our facilites are modern and progressive and we are growing our herd performance from a current 10,500 litres base. We are focusing on key KPI's and are developing a high functioning dairy team that is responsible and accountable for the developmenmt of our business over the next 10 years. We do most of our own forage and contract work with our in house team.
The farm is on the edge of Exmoor and is a 20 minute drive to some of the UK's best surf beaches.
Duties .
- Takle a leading role the dairy team involved with milking, cubicle management, transition cow management and data monitoring and recording
- Daily monitoring of herd health and welfare using Nedap collars and visual assessment
- Learning opportunities to interact with vets and nutritionists on a weekly basis
- Future opportunities for AI and Foot Trimming if not alreday skilled.
Requirements
- A full UK driving lkicence
- Proof of UK right to work
- Telehandler ticket preferred
- A minumum of 3 years experience on a livestock farm, preferrably dairy.

A 3 bed semi-detatched farmhouse will be provided with this role for the right candidate
Your working week is based on a 50 hour rota over 5 days working alternate weekends. There is the opportunity to significantly enhance earning potential as your skills develop.
