We’re looking for a calm, detail-focused Quality & Inspection Operative to join our friendly and growing team
If you take pride in precision and enjoy working carefully with measurements and checklists - this part-time role could be perfect for you!
Hours: 16 or 24 hours/week , (2 or 3 days, Mon–Fri, 8am-4.30pm)
Who are Ooznest:
We're a small company with a big mission — to become the UK’s most trusted and accessible supplier of Aluminium Extrusion systems. Based in Brentwood, Essex, everything we do is focused on quality, service, and delivering exceptional products to our wide range of customers — from individuals and growing businesses to university researchers.
Our aluminium extrusion system is at the heart of what we do — and we’re passionate about getting them exactly right first time!
What You’ll Be Doing:
As part of our Manufacturing Team, you’ll be working in the Quality & Inspection section — the step before cut-to-size and manufactured products move through to fulfilment.
You’ll carry out measurements and visual inspections with precision and consistency – ensuring everything produced meets the correct specifications — helping protect the high quality our customers rely on!
This role isn’t just about measuring and checking — it’s about ownership, care, and teamwork. Every product you inspect is a reflection of our standards. You’ll take pride in asking, “Is this exactly right?” and making sure the answer is always yes.
Main duties:
- Measurements: Measure and inspect customised aluminium extrusions with precision to confirm they match specifications.
- Inspections: Carry out inspection checks on manufactured products, verifying quantities, components, labelling and presentation.
- Issue Reporting: Identify discrepancies and return work to production for review and rework.
- Inspection completion: Clean, prepare, label and approve items in the system as pickable stock.
- Inspection records: Complete inspection check sheets accurately to confirm work has been released.
- Process Guides: Follow inspection procedures and instructions carefully to ensure consistency.
- Workflow & Pace: Maintain a steady and organised workflow to keep pace with production and same-day despatch operations.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with production and fulfilment teams to ensure inspected items move smoothly through the warehouse.
- Workspace upkeep: Keeping work areas clean, tidy and organised while observing all safety protocols.
- Supporting the wider team: Assist other sections when needed (training provided)
What Makes You a Great Fit?
- Positive, Can-Do Attitude – You bring a steady and helpful mindset to your work.
- Teamwork – Respectful, helpful, and celebrates shared successes.
- Pride in Work – You care about doing things properly and to a high standard.
- Attention to Detail (& number confidence)– You notice small details and enjoy working carefully with measurements, numbers and specifications.
- Calm & Methodical – You work in a steady and organised way, even when the team is busy or work is moving quickly.
- Focused & Consistent – You can maintain concentration and apply the same checks every time without cutting corners.
- Reliability – Someone the team can count on to show up and give their best each shift.
- Initiative – Spots when something needs doing and takes action - doesn’t say ‘that’s not my job’
- Process – You follow instructions and check sheets carefully to ensure consistent and reliable results.
- Satisfaction in correctness – You take real satisfaction in seeing work completed correctly and neatly, and it naturally bothers you when something isn’t quite right.
- Customer Focus – You understand that every item inspected contributes to the customer’s experience.
- Safety-Conscious – You always work safely and handle materials correctly.
- Physical Worker – Comfortable with manual work, being on your feet most of the day, and lifting longer or heavier items when required.
Previous experience in inspection, warehouse work, manufacturing, or working with measurements is helpful — but attention to detail and a careful mindset matter most.
