Job Requirements
- Qualification(s) in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience as a modelling technician.
- Background in construction and/or consulting services.
- Experience with Rhinoceros 3D and similar CAD packages.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- UK citizen or permanent resident.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct Computational Engineering Simulations on various aspects of the built environment.
- Conduct research and simulation of energy/ thermal, solar, daylight and airflow of the built environment.
- Devise methodologies for analysis and visualisation of different aspects of the built environment.
- Produce 3D CAD models of buildings from architectural drawings (plans, elevations, and sections) and perspective images.
- Work alongside project engineers to ensure that the 3D CAD models are suitable for use in environmental studies undertaken via Solar modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
- Correspond with architects regarding the provision of drawings and related queries.
- Expand upon our approach to visualising results and other aspects of our studies.
- Manage tasks across multiple projects to ensure that outputs are delivered on time.
Main Simulation Studies;
1. External Daylight/Sunlight Impact Assessment
2. Internal Daylight Assessment to support planning applications and design optimisation.
3. Overshadowing Assessments for outdoor amenity spaces such as gardens, courtyards, and public areas
4. Daylight/Sunlight Calculations for developments with limited access to natural light
5. Rights of Light Consultancy and Assessments to identify and mitigate potential disputes
6. Daylight Calculations for the Code for Sustainable Homes compliance
7. Daylight Calculations for BREEAM credits and sustainable building certification
8. Maximum Envelope Analysis to determine optimal building massing and layout
9. Solar Glare & Shading Analysis for roads, offices, and reflective surfaces
10. Daylight/Sunlight Feasibility Studies during the early concept design stage
