Job Introduction

As a Kitchen Porter with Sodexo at Nuffield Health Brentwood Hospital, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our kitchen running smoothly, working behind the scenes to support our chefs and ensure every dish is served to the highest standard.

What you’ll do:

Support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen by assisting chefs and the wider catering team.

Prepare basic food items and ingredients following recipes, portion guidelines, and food safety procedures.

Wash dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.

Ensure all food preparation and storage areas meet food hygiene, health and safety, and infection prevention standards.

Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and replenishing stock to minimise waste and maintain availability.

Help prepare and assemble patient meal trays accurately, ensuring dietary requirements and allergies are followed.

Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, equipment, and dining service areas throughout each shift.

Complete cleaning schedules and report any equipment faults or health and safety concerns to the supervisor.
What you bring:
-
Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, hospitality, or food service environment is beneficial, although full training will be provided.

A good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety practices, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while following instructions carefully.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a positive and flexible approach to supporting colleagues.

Strong attention to detail, particularly when preparing food, handling dietary requirements, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

A reliable, hardworking attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute to delivering an excellent catering service
