Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Despatch Senior Operator to oversee the efficient management of shipping and receiving operations within our logistics and warehouse environment. The shift pattern is 4 days on and 4 days off working between 6am and 6pm.
The successful candidate will have a forklift license and will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, optimise processes, and lead a team to meet operational targets.
Duties
- Undertake daily dispatch activities, including shipping, receiving, and materials handling, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Operate and oversee forklift operations safely, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate logistics activities using warehouse management systems (WMS) and AS400 platforms to track inventory movements.
- Manage lifting tasks safely, ensuring proper utilisation of mechanical equipment.
- Organise process improvements to optimise dispatch workflows and reduce lead times.
- Oversee compliance with 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) requirements and standards.
- Ensure accurate documentation for shipping & receiving processes, including labels, manifests, and customs paperwork where applicable.
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and organisation within the dispatch area.
- Collaborate with other departments such as logistics and warehouse management to streamline operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics, or dispatch operations.
- Strong knowledge of materials handling equipment including forklift operation (certification essential).
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies within logistics or warehousing settings.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and efficiently during daily operations.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures, including 3PL partnerships.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and inventory control.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively across teams and departments.

Pay: £13.48 per hour
