Full job description

Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Import Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating import shipments, preparing import documentation, liaising with overseas suppliers and logistics partners, and ensuring goods are delivered efficiently and in compliance with UK customs requirements.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Experience in import operations, international shipping, and ERP systems is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and process import and shipping documentation.
Coordinate import shipments with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
Monitor shipment progress and ensure timely deliveries.
Support customs clearance and ensure compliance with import regulations.
Maintain accurate import records and update the ERP system.
Liaise with overseas suppliers on orders, production, and shipping schedules.
Coordinate product specifications, packaging, and artwork updates.
Verify goods received against purchase orders and shipping documents.
Investigate and resolve shipment, documentation, and supplier issues.
Review freight, customs, and logistics invoices for accuracy.
Assist in monitoring import costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Finance teams.
Provide general administrative support and assist with process improvements.
Perform other duties as reasonably required by management.

Requirements

Previous experience in an import, logistics, or supply chain role (preferred)
Good understanding of import procedures and documentation
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Driving licence

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £27,000.00 per year
