The Bigger Boat is an award-winning integrated agency based in scenic Wheatley Park in Mirfield, close to Huddersfield and Leeds. We’re a friendly crew of designers, developers, digital marketers, PR specialists and content creators. Our expanding client list includes well-known international brands, as well as both national and regional businesses.
The role
We have an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic PR professional to join our growing team. We firmly believe that the best PR doesn’t exist in isolation. Instead, it works alongside brand, digital, content, social, and creative to change perceptions, spark conversations, and help businesses grow.
We’re looking for a senior PR manager to lead this work. This isn’t a role for someone who simply wants to manage media lists and monitor coverage. It’s for someone who loves uncovering stories, challenging clients to think bigger, building trusted relationships with journalists, and creating campaigns that people genuinely want to talk about. The role requires exceptional copywriting skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously, as well as the confidence to be able to talk through your ideas and rationale.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be:
- Leading PR strategy for a diverse portfolio of clients and advising on newsworthy narratives with confidence
- Building and nurturing strong relationships with journalists, editors, broadcasters, influencers, and industry commentators
- Creating thought-leadership content that positions our clients as authoritative voices in their sectors, building visibility and trust in a landscape where AI-powered search and evolving media habits are changing how information is discovered
- Monitoring industry trends, the news agenda, and the changing media landscape to follow through opportunities for reactive commentary
- Working with our creative, digital, and content teams to deliver integrated campaigns with impact
- Contributing to new business, pitches, and the ongoing growth of our PR offering
- Copywriting for selected opportunities secured
Skills and experience required:
- Minimum of four years’ PR experience
- Excellent media relationships and the know-how to build on these
- Passionate about media relations and copywriting for PR
- Confidence to advise and steer clients on what makes a newsworthy story
- Obsessive attention to detail
- A proactive mindset
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and as part of a wider team
- A commercially-minded approach and the understanding of how PR contributes to wider business success
Benefits:
- 26 days’ holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
- Flexible working, ability to work from home up to 2-3 days per week
- Healthcare cash plan
- Pension scheme
- Bonus scheme
- Training budget available for each employee
- Fun work events
- Free parking
Pay: From £38,000.00 per year
