Inverclyde Mental Health and Wellbeing Services provide a full range of secondary mental health care and community-based mental health services for the population of Inverclyde. Inverclyde Older Persons Mental Health Team (OPMHT) is an integrated health and social work team providing outcome-focused interventions to people over 65 with a range of mental health issues and to people of all ages with dementia. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered mental health nurse to contribute to the team as a Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse, based in Crown House, Greenock. Professional leadership and operational management is via Band 7 Nurse Team Lead. The Inverclyde OPMHT provides Memory Clinic Assessment, Community Mental Health Nursing, Care Home and Hospital Liaison Nursing. On occasion, the post holder may be requested to participate in all team functions.

Monday to Thursday, 09:00 to 17:00 and Fridays 09:00 to 15:30
Key responsibilities:
Take responsibility for the management of a defined clinical caseload, delivering comprehensive, specialist nursing care to service users with often complex mental health, physical health and social care needs
Provide daytoday leadership, management and clinical supervision to nursing staff and healthcare assistants, supporting safe practice, professional development and effective workload management
Work collaboratively with health, social work and multidisciplinary colleagues to coordinate personcentred, outcomefocused care within a defined geographical area
Undertake assessment, care planning, review and discharge, using evidencebased practice and autonomous clinical decisionmaking to manage risk and promote patient safety
Play an active role in team development, contributing to service improvement activity, audit, and the development of local protocols, policies and practice
Act as a role model and practice assessor/supervisor, supporting student learning, promoting reflective practice and contributing to a positive learning and working environment within the team
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Be a firstlevel registered mental health nurse, with a strong foundation in community and/or secondary mental health care and a commitment to high professional standards
Demonstrate ongoing continuing professional development, with the ability to apply evidencebased practice to complex clinical situations
Possess excellent communication, organisational and analytical skills, enabling effective caseload management, leadership and multidisciplinary working
Have the skills and experience to work autonomously, make sound clinical judgements, and manage risk safely while supporting patients, carers and staff
Bring experience of supervision, leadership or mentorship, with the ability to support staff development and contribute positively to a learning environment, including student support
Hold a current driving licence and be willing to work flexibly across a defined geographical area to meet service and patient needs
