You'll work across the Wessex Water region, covering Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, Wiltshire, and parts of Gloucestershire and Hampshire, playing a key role in the successful planning and delivery of sewer asset surveys.
What you'll do
Reporting to the Programme and Project Manager, you'll work closely with Technicians, Supervisors, operational crews and Task Controllers to ensure sewer asset survey works are effectively planned, coordinated and delivered.
A key aspect of the role is ensuring that both internal teams and contractors have everything in place to complete survey activities safely, efficiently and successfully. This requires proactive planning, strong organisation and excellent communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
You'll regularly liaise with customers, landowners, local authorities, Network Rail and National Highways, securing permissions and coordinating requirements to enable survey work to proceed smoothly.
Success in this role relies on your ability to plan ahead, manage multiple priorities and coordinate complex activities. Your preparation and attention to detail will ensure our operational teams can arrive on site with all necessary arrangements in place to carry out sewer asset surveys effectively.
You will be responsible for balancing and coordinating work from a variety of sources, including customer-driven requests, engineering support activities and network management programmes.
Working independently, you'll help ensure customer expectations, performance targets and key business objectives are consistently achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
-
maintaining accurate and up-to-date records across relevant systems and databases
-
preparing street works notices and securing third-party, private land and environmental permits
-
conducting site visits to support the planning and delivery of survey work
-
coordinating and scheduling works with internal teams and external contractors
-
organising enabling works with other departments and stakeholders
-
planning and implementing traffic management requirements
-
facilitating works in or near high-risk environments such as railways, waterways and motorways
-
monitoring and forecasting expenditure against project budgets in collaboration with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Supervisors
-
attending and facilitating pre-start meetings with operational teams, contractors and third parties.
What you'll need
To be successful in this role, you'll be an organised, adaptable and confident communicator who can build positive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You'll be comfortable managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively across teams while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and operational performance.
While candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered, it would be advantageous to have knowledge or experience in:
-
CCTV sewer surveying and sewer cleaning operations
-
Streetworks legislation (NRSWA)
-
wastewater networks and associated infrastructure.
You will also have:
-
excellent organisational and planning skills
-
strong attention to detail
-
the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
-
the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
-
good IT skills and confidence using multiple systems and software applications
-
strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
As this can be a time-critical role, you'll need to remain calm and effective when managing competing priorities and changing operational requirements.
Due to the regional and field-based nature of the position, a full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
What you'll receive
-
A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
-
Career progression and professional development opportunities.
-
25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
-
The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
