About the Role:

We are looking for a Principal Patient Safety Consultant who can take ownership of our patient safety and clinical risk framework. You will work closely with dental professionals, practice teams and operational stakeholders to identify risks, strengthen procedures and ensure that patient safety remains central to every service we provide.
This is a high-level specialist position with significant influence across the organisation, without being an executive management role.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Safety Framework:
Develop, maintain and improve the organisation's patient safety policies, procedures and reporting systems.
Clinical Risk Management:
Identify potential clinical and operational risks, conduct structured risk assessments and recommend practical control measures.
Incident Investigation:
Lead investigations into patient safety incidents, complaints, near misses and adverse events using recognised root cause analysis methods.
Governance and Compliance:
Ensure patient safety processes align with applicable dental regulations, professional standards and internal governance requirements.
Audit and Assurance:
Plan and conduct clinical safety audits, monitor corrective actions and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
Quality Improvement:
Design and support improvement programmes that reduce clinical risk, strengthen patient outcomes and improve consistency across dental practices.
Training and Guidance:
Provide patient safety training, coaching and specialist advice to dentists, dental nurses, practice teams and support staff.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with clinical professionals, practice managers and compliance teams to implement patient safety improvements effectively.
Data and Reporting:
Analyse incident trends, complaints, audit results and patient feedback to identify recurring issues and areas for improvement.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 6 years of relevant experience in patient safety, clinical governance, healthcare quality, dental compliance or clinical risk management.
Sector Knowledge:
Strong understanding of patient safety principles, clinical governance, incident management and regulatory expectations within healthcare or dental services.
Investigation Skills:
Experience conducting incident reviews, root cause analysis and structured clinical risk assessments.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex safety issues clearly to both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
Professional Judgement:
You can provide balanced, evidence-based recommendations while considering patient needs, regulatory expectations and operational realities.
Analytical Ability:
Strong ability to interpret safety data, identify trends and translate findings into practical improvement actions.
Qualifications:
A relevant qualification in healthcare, dentistry, nursing, clinical governance, patient safety, quality management or risk management is preferred.
Mindset:
You are objective, thorough and improvement-focused. You understand that a strong patient safety culture depends on openness, accountability, learning and consistent follow-through.
Pay: £5,000.00-£6,000.00 per month
