Full job description

We are recruiting a Transport Team Control Room operator to help us manage Traffic & Transport operations during the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann which takes place between 2nd and 9th August 2026.

This role will be based in the Event Control Room, working with our Event Traffic Managers to communicate with around 100 radio users over three channels. This will involve logging information from the team on the ground and providing them with information.

Working 12 hour shifts on either days (0600-1800) or nights (1800-0600), you will use our IT systems to log all information and ensure any incident or emergencies are flagged to the Event Control team.

You will work with many other agencies to facilitate their access including PSNI, NIAS, NIFRS, St Johns Ambulance, Coastguard, SOS Bus. Translink, DfI Roads Service etc.

This will be a rewarding role which is crucial the success of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann as we manage all aspects of the Traffic & Transport Plan including.

The role commences on the 1st August and concludes in the 9th August. You will also receive paid training throughout June at weekends or events and a full briefing on the role & duties.

Required skills:

Problem solving
Following procedures (provided to you in training)
Excellent customer service skills, including when dealing with challenging situations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent IT skills including using apps and Microsoft Office
Ability to work with other agencies / organisations in a high pressure environment

Ideal additional skills / experience:

Managing emergencies and incidents
Using radios
Any event / event control room experience
Any Traffic Management experience
Any experience of similar environments such as 999 Control Rooms
Awareness of JESIP etc

Pay: From £18.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

Belfast, County Antrim: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
