Experience
Hold a current and valid Lifeguard qualification
Have at least 2 years paid experience of being a lifeguard
Experience in understanding and enforcing pool rules and regulations to ensure safety of users

Knowledge

Skill and expertise in the application of pool surveillance and rescue techniques.
understand importance of ensuring equipment is clean, organised and available at start of each lesson and is left cleaned and organised at end of each lesson
Support pupils to prepare for swimming lessons promoting independence in their self help skills
Know how to support the swimming teacher and pupils when needed during swimming lessons and be able to follow teacher's directions
a working knowledge of health and safety procedures in a pool environment
Experience / knowledge
assisting with the emergency evacuation of the swimming pool e.g. in the event of a fire

Set up equipment in Sports Hall for classes e.g. boccia, badminton etc
Assist with PE classes
Ensure PE stores are clean and tidy
Set up equipment for organised school events e.g. Sports Day and help as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
