Material Handler
FT – 40 hours per week, Evening Shift 15:00-01:00, Mon-Thurs
Rate of pay: £14.49 per hour (evening shift)

THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our team on the evening shift. In this role, you will be responsible for providing all materials and components to each of the cells and work areas within the factory, to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the production process.
You will bring proven, hands-on experience of material handling within a manufacturing environment, with a good understanding of stock control, production processes and the physical demands of the role.
Our current shift requirement is evening shift however flexibility will be required across all shift patterns in order to ensure business needs are met.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continuously monitor machines and operators, keeping all work areas stocked with materials and components, and maintaining an up-to-date production status at all times.
- Plan ahead for incoming orders, ensuring materials (including those requiring mixing or drying) are readily available, minimising changeover time and downtime.
- Set up auxiliary equipment and manage driers/hoppers, including emptying, weighing and readings, escalating any issues to the Engineering Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used on each order, including weight, BN and batch numbers, and complete monthly stock takes.
- Move pallets between machines, the quality area and the store, checking counts and returning excess materials to their allocated storage location.
- Clean machine filters and maintain a clean, tidy and organised working environment, including general housekeeping duties.
- Keep pallet trucks and forklifts maintained and ready for use, and keep the maintenance register up to date.
- Cover machine and operator breaks, including in the event of absence.
- Ensure compliance with Company, statutory and health & safety obligations, including accident reporting, and take part in relevant training.
LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Previous experience as a Material Handler, or in a similar materials/stock handling role, within a production or manufacturing environment. (Internal Unicorn Group candidates with at least 1 year's experience working in production will also be considered.)
- Organised, logical approach to work with the ability to plan ahead and multi-task.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and a 'right first time' approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to co-operate and work as part of a team.
- Adequate fitness, stamina and manual dexterity to carry out the physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, lifting, carrying and stretching.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to accurately count stock and read/complete production documentation.
Desirable
- Valid forklift licence.
- Experience using computerised stock or production recording systems (e.g. ERP software) to record data and manage stock.
