Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Coordinator to join our team in a care home setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents, particularly those in assisted living and dementia care. This role requires excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for senior care, ensuring that all activities are tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme that caters to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Coordinate and facilitate individual and group activities, ensuring participation from all residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' interests and needs, adapting activities accordingly.
- Maintain an engaging environment by decorating activity spaces and preparing materials for events.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and encourage participation.
- Document resident participation in activities and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes regularly.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all activities.
- Provide support to residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive abilities, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role within a care home, nursing home, or assisted living environment is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with seniors, families, and staff members.
- A genuine passion for working with older adults, particularly those requiring dementia care or specialised support.
- Ability to plan and organise events that are both enjoyable and beneficial for residents’ well-being.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on resident feedback or changing needs.
- A caring attitude combined with patience and empathy towards residents' individual circumstances.
