Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that food preparation and kitchen operations run smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to learn more about culinary practices.

Duties

Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the head chef or kitchen supervisor.
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
Help with the organisation of catering events, including setting up and breaking down food stations.
Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces regularly to maintain a tidy environment.
Clean and sanitise all restaurant and bar dishes and cutlery.
Support cooks in cooking tasks when required, ensuring that dishes are prepared to specification.
Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen manager.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods.

Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for culinary arts is highly valued.
Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a team setting while also being capable of taking initiative when necessary.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
A willingness to learn new skills related to catering, meal preparation, and general culinary practices.
