Full job description

We are looking for a compassionate, experienced female teacher (QTS) to support a KS3 student currently out of education and awaiting specialist school placement.

Please be aware, Qualified Teacher Status is compulsory here. Only candidates with QTS will be shortlisted for this role.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is confident working with young people with SEMH needs, school-based anxiety, and trauma-related barriers to learning.

The Role;

10 hours per week
1:1 tuition in English and Maths KS4
Initially online sessions, with potential transition to home-based support later
Afternoon sessions preferred
Parent/carer present during sessions

About the Student;

KS3 learner working below age-related expectations
Bright, capable, and verbally expressive
Responds best to practical, discussion-based learning
Has experienced significant anxiety around education and unfamiliar adults
Requires time, patience, and consistency to build trust and engagement

Ideal candidate;

We are seeking a qualified teacher who;

Has experience supporting students with SEND and SEMH
Uses trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches
Can deliver engaging KS3 English and Maths sessions
Understands emotional regulation and anxiety-based barriers to learning
Can provide calm, predictable, low-pressure sessions
Is patient, consistent, and relationship-led in approach

Key Support Strategies;

Low-demand, relationship-first approach
Predictable routines and gradual re-engagement
Learning linked to real-world interests and practical contexts
Opportunities for verbal responses before written work
Calm, flexible responses to withdrawal or dysregulation
Confidence-building rather than assessment-heavy teaching

Start date: ASAP

Pay: £18.00-£35.00 per hour

QTS (preferred)

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Hull HU9
