The Role of the Teacher of PE:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, challenging, and inclusive Physical Education lessons that meet the requirements of the National Curriculum and examination specifications where applicable.
Assess, monitor, record, and report on students' progress, attainment, and participation, using assessment data to inform teaching and support student achievement.
Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment that promotes high standards of behaviour, participation, and respect.
Promote students' physical, social, and emotional wellbeing through participation in physical activity, sport, and healthy lifestyle education.
Ensure the safe use, storage, and maintenance of PE equipment and facilities, adhering to relevant health and safety policies and risk assessment procedures.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of PE curriculum, schemes of work, and departmental improvement plans.
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all students in accordance with school policies and statutory guidance.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience of, or a strong understanding of, teaching Physical Education at Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience desirable where applicable)
A passion for Physical Education, sport, and promoting healthy lifestyles, with the ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities
Strong classroom, practical activity, and behaviour management skills, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment
The ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons that develop students’ physical competence, confidence, teamwork, and resilience
A reflective and collaborative approach to teaching, coaching, and professional development
Commitment to contributing positively to the wider school and Trust community, including extracurricular sport, clubs, fixtures, and enrichment opportunities
A commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and achieving the best possible outcomes for all learners
