Job Overview

The Relief Milker plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of dairy farm activities by providing temporary cover for milking duties and related tasks. This position requires a responsible individual capable of working independently, with a focus on animal welfare, equipment maintenance, and farm upkeep. The Relief Milker ensures that milking routines are carried out efficiently and safely, supporting the overall health of the herd and productivity of the farm. Candidates should be physically fit, adaptable, and possess a keen interest in animal care and farm operations.

Duties

Assist with milking cows using appropriate equipment, ensuring hygiene standards are maintained.
Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on equipment using hand tools, power tools, or specialised machinery.
Support with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animal health.
Handle heavy lifting involved in moving feed, equipment, or livestock materials safely.
Maintain cleanliness of work areas to promote a safe and efficient environment.
Support general farm maintenance activities including equipment repair and upkeep of farm infrastructure.Skills
Mechanical knowledge combined with experience using hand tools and power tools for repairs and maintenance.
Ability to perform basic maths for measurements, calculations, and record keeping.
Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks associated with farm duties.
Experience in animal care is preferred to ensure proper handling and welfare of livestock.
Familiarity with equipment repair techniques to troubleshoot machinery issues effectively.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently during shifts.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety protocols.This role offers an engaging opportunity for individuals passionate about farming, animal welfare, and machinery maintenance within a dynamic agricultural environment.

Pay: £110.00 per day
