Full job description

We are seeking a Deputy Head of Faculty of Construction Trades & Heritage to join our ambitious and growing College as we continue to invest in both our staff and our learners.

This vibrant curriculum area encompasses a wide range of trade specialisms, including Brickwork, Carpentry & Furniture Making, and Stonemasonry, offering an exciting environment in which to inspire and develop future talent.

Interviews for this role will be taking place week commencing 24 August 2026.

Your duties

What are the main duties?

You will:

Lead curriculum planning and development to ensure industry relevance.
Monitor teaching standards through observations and training.
Deliver up to 7.5 hours of high-quality teaching weekly.
Oversee student performance and implement timely interventions.
Provide pastoral and tutorial support.
Build strong links with employers and professional bodies.
Collaborate with internal teams to integrate digital and skills-based learning.

Person specification

The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:

Must hold a teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) and have extensive experience in Further Education.
A degree or relevant professional qualification in the subject area is essential.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and support staff development.
Experience in curriculum development, quality assurance, and strategic planning.
Ability to analyse and use data to drive continuous improvement.
Demonstrable evidence of improving learner achievement.
