Full job description

The Role

Working closely with the owner, you will oversee day-to-day operations and lead by example across the café and play village. You will run shifts confidently when the owner is off-site, motivate team members, and ensure every family leaves with a magical, memorable experience. As the business grows, this role offers a clear pathway to develop into an Assistant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Operations: Open and close the venue, run shift checklists, allocate daily tasks to Play Assistants, and lead the team by example.
Customer Care & Administration: Deliver warm welcomes, resolve customer queries professionally, handle bookings and enquiries, and manage till and cash transactions.
Café & Play Operations: Prepare and serve hot/cold drinks and light food, monitor stock levels, coordinate birthday parties/seasonal events, and maintain high food hygiene standards.
Team Guidance: Support, motivate, and coach Play Assistants, assisting with onboarding and training new staff members.

Helth, Safety & Hygiene

Food Safety: Enforce food safety and allergen standards across beverage and food prep areas.
Play & Facility Safety: Perform opening/closing safety checks, inspect play equipment regularly, check for hazards, and ensure fire exits and walkways remain clear.
Safeguarding & Incident Reporting: Ensure compliance with child safeguarding practices, oversee first aid responses, and log all accidents/incidents promptly.

Safeguarding & Pre-employment Checks
Little Daydreamers is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Parents and carers remain responsible for the supervision of their children at all times.

The successful candidate will be required to complete appropriate pre-employment checks, including proof of right to work in the UK, satisfactory references and a DBS check (if required) at the appropriate level for the role. All employees will complete safeguarding training as part of their induction.

Requirements

Essential:

Proven supervisory experience in hospitality, leisure, retail, or a customer-facing environment.
Strong leadership skills, approachable, organised, reliable, and calm under pressure.
Excellent communication skills and comfortable using digital till/booking systems (training will ne provided).
Full flexibility to work weekends and school holidays.

Desirable:

Experience working in a family, early-years, or children's attraction setting.
Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher), First Aid qualification, or Safeguarding knowledge.
Experience coordinating birthday parties or events.
