Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners (MHWP) are a new and exciting development in the NHS psychological workforce. Have you recently completed the PG Cert or Cert Grad to become a Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner? Or are you currently undertaking the year long MHWP training? We are looking to employ a passionate Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner across three Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams (NMHT) within North West Sussex. You will work with a diverse group of professionals committed to providing evidence based care and high quality treatments to those with severe and complex mental health needs.

You will work closely with Psychology Profession colleagues and receive high standards of supervision. You will be part of a friendly and cohesive group of MHWP's with great connections to the wider MHWP community. MHWP's are valued team members and play a key role in MDT working. Our service values compassionate care and promotes a psychologically safe work environment, ensuring that you feel appreciated and supported.

What you'll do:
Provide clients with low intensity psychological interventions aligned to cognitive-behavioural principles, including: behavioural activation; graded exposure; teaching problem solving skills; recognising and managing emotions; improving sleep; psycho-education; building confidence
Assess the client's suitability for these interventions
You will typically support service users for up to 6 sessions over a period of up to 4 months
Risk assess and to plan care collaboratively with service users
Set collaborative goals for intervention with service users
Implement pre and post outcome measures with service users
Form professional relationships and relate to service users in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture
Engage calmly and with sensitivity and empathy to support service users in highly distressing or emotional circumstances
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
When appropriate, take on the role of key worker for the service user
Regularly attend clinical supervision with a qualified psychology professional
Work alongside service users, families, carers and multi-disciplinary team members to co-ordinate care, and support collaborative decision-making about care and treatment.
Exercise good personal time management, punctuality, reliable attendance and good organisational skills

What are we looking for?

PG Cert or Cert Grad in Mental Health Wellbeing Practice
Experience of delivering low intensity psychologically informed work using CBT principles to those with severe and enduring mental health problems
Experience of working well within a multidisciplinary NHS Team
Experience of delivering goal focused, short-term, time-limited work.
Experience of promoting wellbeing and social inclusion.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting and productive relationships with colleagues and service users
A good understanding of mental health issues and ability to formulate psychologically around these
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to tailor them to a variety of audiences
The ability to work independently and think quickly in often challenging situations
The creativity to solve problems and tackle obstacles in new ways
Effective time management skills to juggle competing demands in a busy and sometimes pressured work environment
