Purpose of the Role
To support the charity’s income-generating activities through both in-store and online retail channels. This role helps prepare donated items for sale, manage online listings, and provide excellent customer service in our charity shop. All proceeds support our mission to rebuild lives and communities in Eastern Europe.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparing Items for Sale
- Cleaning, washing, and steaming donated items to make them sale-ready
- Researching items (particularly brands, vintage, or collectible goods) to determine appropriate pricing
- Taking quality photographs of items for online listings
2. Online Sales (Vinted & eBay)
- Drafting listings for eBay with detailed descriptions and images (with final review by manager if needed)
- Packing sold items securely and generating postage labels
- Organising and maintaining an efficient stock area for online orders
3. Donation Sorting and Processing
- Sorting incoming donations by category and condition
- Selecting suitable items for the shop or online platforms
- Processing items for rotation or clearance
4. Shop Assistant Duties
- Welcoming and assisting customers with a friendly attitude
- Operating the till, handling cash and card payments accurately
- Putting out new stock and rotating existing items to keep displays fresh
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised shop environment
Skills and Qualities Needed
- A passion for retail and/or charity work
- Basic computer and internet skills (especially for Vinted/eBay)
- Good attention to detail and presentation
- Friendly, polite, and confident in dealing with the public
- Honest, reliable, and willing to learn
- Ability to follow safety and data protection guidelines

Training and Support
