Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and eager to develop their skills within a professional hospitality environment. The position is paid and suitable for those with a keen interest in food production and team management.

Duties

Assist in preparing ingredients and cooking dishes according to specified recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in the organisation of food production processes
Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen activities
Supervise junior staff and coordinate tasks during busy service periods
Ensure all food is prepared efficiently, accurately, and presented attractively
Contribute to menu planning and suggest improvements based on operational experience
Assist with stock control, inventory management, and ordering supplies as needed
Uphold excellent customer service by ensuring timely delivery of dishes during service hours
Support in training new team members and fostering a positive team environment

Experience

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
Supervising experience is desirable but not essential; leadership qualities are valued highly
Strong background in food production, food preparation, and cooking techniques
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
Experience in team management, supporting colleagues, and maintaining efficient kitchen operations
Familiarity with restaurant service procedures, including serving guests when required
Previous exposure to culinary arts, hospitality environments, or similar roles will be advantageous
