About Us
We are a creative, inclusive, and nurturing day nursery committed to providing inspiring learning experiences for children from babies through to 5 years old, including children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Creativity is at the heart of everything we do, and we are seeking an enthusiastic and imaginative Resident Artist to help bring our creative curriculum to life through meaningful artistic experiences, exploration, and sensory learning.
The Role
As our Resident Artist, you will design and lead exciting, hands-on creative experiences using a wide section of artistic mediums and approaches to teaching. You will inspire curiosity, imagination, and self-expression while supporting children’s emotional, social, sensory, and physical development.
Working across all age groups — from babies to preschool — you will adapt your teaching style and creative practice to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND children. to ensure the work created is celebrated and displayed well.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging creative experiences for children aged 0–5 years.
- Embrace our creative curriculum through the use of a broad range of artistic mediums including:
- Painting
- Clay and sculpture
- Collage
- Printing
- Textiles
- Natural and recycled materials
- Sensory and messy play
- Mixed media and large-scale art
- Demonstrate knowledge of various approaches to teaching and learning within Early Years education.
- Adapt activities to support children with SEND and differing developmental needs.
- Create sensory-rich experiences suitable for babies, toddlers, and preschool children.
- Encourage creativity, communication, confidence, and exploration through child-led and adult-guided activities.
- Work collaboratively with practitioners, SENCO staff, and families.
- Create inspiring displays and creative learning spaces throughout the nursery.
- Promote an inclusive, safe, and nurturing environment for all children.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Art or related creative discipline.
- Experience working with children aged 0–5 years.
- Knowledge and understanding of different teaching approaches and learning styles.
- Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework.
- Experience supporting children with SEND.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
