Junior Marketing Manager
Birmingham City Centre | Full Time, Permanent | £28,500 to £30,000 per year
Lemoncake Events is looking for an early-career marketer who is ready to move beyond supporting individual tasks and begin developing the broader skills needed to manage campaigns. This is an entry-level management opportunity covering social media, online campaigns, brand activations and live events, with practical training and increasing responsibility as your capability develops.
You will gain experience across the full campaign cycle, from interpreting a client brief and shaping the initial plan to coordinating delivery, reviewing results and presenting clear recommendations. The role offers variety, close involvement with live projects and a structured introduction to campaign and people management.
About Lemoncake Events
Lemoncake Events creates marketing campaigns designed to connect brands with their audiences across digital channels and real-world experiences. Our work brings together social media content, online activity, promotional events and brand activations, allowing us to consider the complete customer journey rather than treating digital marketing and in-person engagement as separate areas.
Campaign requirements vary according to the client, audience and objective. One project may centre on planning social content and monitoring online engagement, while another could involve coordinating a Birmingham brand activation, supporting an event launch or helping a client introduce a new product or service.
As our campaign activity grows across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, we are developing the next level of marketing talent internally. The Junior Marketing Manager will support current projects while learning how campaigns, deadlines, budgets, suppliers and people are coordinated.
The role
You will work alongside colleagues involved in marketing, events, client services and campaign delivery. During your initial training, you will learn how briefs are received, how responsibilities are allocated and how work moves from planning into delivery.
The position will initially focus on campaign coordination and practical marketing activity. Once you have shown sound judgement, consistent organisation and a reliable understanding of our processes, you will become more involved in planning, reporting and guiding the work of others.
This is not a senior management appointment, and you will not be expected to arrive knowing every aspect of integrated marketing. It is intended for someone with useful foundations who now wants to understand how multiple channels are managed as one campaign.
Your responsibilities will include
- Supporting marketing campaigns across social media, online platforms, brand activations and live events
- Turning client briefs into organised schedules, actions and campaign priorities
- Contributing ideas for content, promotions, audience engagement and event activity
- Preparing social media content plans and coordinating approved posts
- Checking campaign materials for accuracy, brand consistency and suitability
- Liaising with internal colleagues, venues, suppliers and other project partners
- Keeping timelines, campaign documents and activity trackers up to date
- Monitoring engagement, enquiries, attendance and other agreed performance measures
- Reviewing campaign information to identify what worked and where changes may be needed
- Assisting with event preparation, promotional materials and activity on the day
- Keeping stakeholders informed when deadlines or project details change
- Producing clear campaign updates for review by senior colleagues
Developing your management skills
Management development at Lemoncake Events is based on demonstrated performance rather than an automatic timetable. At the start, the priority will be learning how the company works and becoming dependable across day-to-day campaign activity, with regular feedback on the quality of your work, communication, organisation and ability to meet deadlines.
As you progress, your involvement can extend to allocating smaller tasks, running campaign check-ins, reviewing work before approval and helping colleagues understand daily priorities. You will also learn how to balance creative ideas with client expectations, available resources and measurable outcomes. Responsibility increases when you can manage these areas consistently and make sensible decisions without losing attention to detail.
How performance will be assessed
Success here is not measured by social media engagement alone. We will consider the overall quality and reliability of your work, including:
- Campaign tasks completed accurately and within agreed timescales
- Clear communication with colleagues, clients and suppliers
- Quality and consistency across marketing materials
- Organisation of campaign information and project updates
- Contribution to engagement, enquiries, attendance or other campaign objectives
- Ability to respond constructively when priorities change
- Progress in coordinating work and supporting other team members
Marketing and events can become particularly busy around campaign launches and live activation dates. Plans may change, suppliers may need quick answers and several deadlines can overlap, so you should be comfortable reassessing priorities while keeping records accurate and communication professional.
Who we are looking for
This position could suit a marketing graduate, a Marketing Executive ready for broader responsibility, or someone with relevant experience gained through events, content, communications or campaign coordination.
You should have:
- Some practical understanding of marketing, gained through employment, a degree, placement, internship or substantial project work
- An interest in both digital marketing and live customer experiences
- Strong written English and clear verbal communication
- Good organisation when handling several tasks or deadlines
- Careful attention to detail across content, schedules and campaign information
- A practical approach to solving problems
- The willingness to contribute ideas while remaining open to feedback
- An interest in developing campaign and people management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across different areas of a project
Experience with social media scheduling, basic analytics, content creation, email marketing or event coordination would be helpful, but we do not expect applicants to have worked across every channel.
