Full job description

Applications are invited from suitably experienced persons for this exciting role within Information Management.

The Civil Disclosure unit is responsible for collating and redacting information to make secure disclosures to the appropriate requester for civil proceedings.

The role of Civil Disclosure Officer requires an individual who is able to work under the line management of the Disclosure Unit Manager. They will be expected to manage their own workload on a daily basis giving regard to legislative time frames as well as being a confident decision maker who is able to interpret relevant legislation and guidance when considering the disclosure of information.

You will be required to have contact with members of the public and professional bodies and be expected to represent the service in a professional and helpful manner. All staff are expected to adopt a multi-functional approach, to work with a view to reply to various types of requests processed by the department.
You will need to interrogate multiple force computer systems as well as having the ability to learn new software and packages as they arise. You will also need to demonstrate good communication skills and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

Essential skills :

Strong research and report writing skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external customers.
High standard of written and verbal English to enable effective communication.
Must be able to work as part of a team and on their own.
Good interpersonal skills, including communication skills.
Able to learn and use multiple computer systems.
Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise work.

Desirable skills:

Knowledge of police procedures
Experience of redacting third party information from various reports
Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018
Previous experience of processing Subject Access Requests
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to understand, interpret, apply and advise on relevant legislation accordingly.
Proven experience of ability to research and analyse information.

Hours of Work and Flexibility:- This is a full-time position working between core hours of 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. The role is hybrid working with 60% of working days on-site.

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background and financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test.

Interviews: Interviews will take place week commencing 22nd June and 29th June 2026.
