Our Trust is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Pre‑registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) to join our Pharmacy Department on a fixed two‑year apprenticeship programme.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with the commitment, adaptability, and drive to train under the apprenticeship framework and progress towards becoming a registered pharmacy technician. Alongside comprehensive on‑the‑job training, you will undertake part‑time academic study one day per week to complete the Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Level 3 qualification. Attendance at college is required, and you will be expected to complete all associated coursework and assessments within agreed deadlines, including independent study outside of working hours.

Upon successful completion of the programme, you will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacy technician. Throughout your training, you will be supported by a knowledgeable and experienced pharmacy team committed to your development.

To be considered for this role, applicants must hold a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English, and Science (or a combined science award with at least one grade C/4 or above plus an additional GCSE). Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English are also accepted. Evidence of these essential qualifications must be provided prior to interview.

We are pleased to offer one Pre‑registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) position based at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (single‑sector training site). The successful applicant will be offered a start date between September 2026 and March 2027.

Academic training will be delivered by either Birmingham Metropolitan College or Walsall College, and you will be required to attend college one day per week while meeting all study deadlines set by the programme.

This is a full‑time post and includes rotations through a range of specialist areas within the Pharmacy Department, covering both operational and clinical services. You will gain hands‑on experience while developing the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required of a registered pharmacy technician.
