Role Summary
We are seeking a fixed-term Associate Psychology Technician to join our Psychology Technical Team, supporting the delivery of high-quality services for the department of Psychology and Counselling. The post is open to new or recent BCU Psychology graduates only and is available from September 2026, for a period of 9 months, as part of our grow-your-own graduate employability scheme.
In this role, you will help the existing technical team to provide technical support for Psychology research, teaching and learning activities and specialist spaces, whilst directly supporting our students with developing key skills. Key responsibilities include maintaining assets and laboratories, working closely with colleagues to ensure services are efficient, compliant, and aligned to University priorities. You will be a team player able to follow instructions, have a flexible approach to work and be willing to assist in occasional outreach and school activities outside of core hours.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with learning and teaching activities in different environments such as workshops, laboratories and other spaces as needed.

Learn from and support the technical team in providing technical advice, guidance and assistance to students, academic colleagues particularly regarding specialist techniques and processes.

Assist in the demonstration of the use of a range of equipment and software

Set up equipment, rooms and materials as required by senior technicians.
Essential Requirements

Undergraduate degree in Psychology

Awareness and knowledge of relevant equipment and software

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Desirable Requirements

Some knowledge of qualitative research methods, technology and analyses

Awareness of the importance of outreach and wider technical support activities that contribute to service excellence

Ability to pass on practical skills to colleagues and students through demonstration and teaching
