Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join our educational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about education, working with children, and supporting students with diverse needs, including those with special educational requirements or disabilities. The position is paid and suitable for those looking to gain valuable experience within a supportive school environment.

Duties

Supervise classes across various subjects in the absence of the classroom teacher, maintaining discipline and order.
Implement planned activities and lessons provided by the regular teacher or follow set schemes of work.
Support students with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities, ensuring they are fully engaged and supported.
Foster a positive learning environment through effective communication, mentoring, and behaviour management strategies.
Assist with personalised learning activities such as creative writing, tutoring, or mentoring sessions as required.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students during lesson time and break periods.
Collaborate with school staff to ensure smooth transitions between lessons and effective classroom management.

Experience

Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or special educational needs, including autism, is advantageous.
Knowledge of teaching methods, tutoring techniques, and behaviour management strategies is beneficial.
Strong communication skills are essential for engaging effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
Experience in creative writing or mentoring can enhance your ability to support student development creatively and personally.
Previous experience as a cover supervisor or in similar supervisory roles within schools will be highly regarded but is not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates committed to making a positive impact on students’ learning experiences.
