Miss Macaroon is baking a brighter future, we provide long term unemployed young people opportunities to gain skills that can change their lives. Set up in 2011 we are an innovative social enterprise working with 18 - 35 year olds in Birmingham and 18-30 year olds in Walsall, who may have experienced significant trauma and present with complex interpersonal, behavioural and emotional issues, to build their skills, confidence and get them into work.

This is a new role and you will be instrumental in leading Miss Macaroon to move to the next stage of our development, whilst having great job satisfaction from seeing our transformational impact on young people’s lives.
The Operations manager holds responsibility for quality, delivery and manages Miss Macaroon range of programmes, products, services and sites. The post is responsible for a team of 12 - 15 employees based across the production kitchen and head office in Aston, retail store at Resorts World and collaborative partnership in Walsall town centre..
Duties
- People and General Management
- Lead, develop and manage the team to achieve high performance and drive results, raising any risk and performance issues to the CEO.
- Accountable for each individual learner’s progression through the programme and into work, so they can reach their full potential across their whole journey with Miss Macaroon and moving into employment.
- Ensure regular, effective self-assessment is carried out and quality improvement plans are implemented across kitchen production, retail sales and programme delivery (education programme and wellbeing elements).
- Support the continued enhancement of the vision and strategy for internal learning and development, including CPD, aligning learning processes with strategic and tactical plans, including gaining new contracts.
- Ensure all monitoring and evaluation data is gathered and analysed by the programme delivery teams, utilising data as a reflection and improvement tool.
- Manage relationships and outputs of agencies and suppliers including HR, Accounting, Counsellors and Marketing.
- Responsible for ensuring the organisation is legally compliant, including being Safeguarding Designated Lead and Health and safety lead.
- Accountable for ensuring KPIs across our office, production kitchen, retail stores and training spaces are met and delivered on time and budget, including achievement, retention, spend and other contractual obligations for all funders and contractors.
- Lead on partnership working with key stakeholders at senior levels in public, private and third sector organisations enhancing the development and delivery of programmes.
- Responsible for recruitment, induction, training of new team members and management of people processes, records and people development
Essential requirements
- Experience of leading and managing a team, preferably obtained in the charity and/or education sectors and using formal appraisal systems
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects under a programme of funded activity with at least 3 years’ experience in a third sector setting
- Experience of working to agreed delivery targets, monitoring outcomes, project evaluation and report writing
- Highly capable of managing multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Experience of representing an organisation to external partners
- Experience of supporting and/or coaching others to develop good practice, processes and resources that support quality and effectiveness of delivery
- Skilled in conducting evaluation to understand impact, using outcomes to recommend developments and improvements, developing efficient workflows, implementing processes to maximise resources
- Experience of carrying out needs assessments with users of services
- Excellent organisational and record keeping skills, with experience of using data management tools to monitor and manage information
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information to a wide audience at all levels
- Systems and database management experience to monitor impact
- Finance and budget experience
- Experience of overseeing GDPR and copyright compliance
- Safeguarding experience
Desirable requirements
- Experience of working with young people with multiple and complex needs
- Experience of the learning sector
- Generating income from statutory sources and grantmaking trusts
- Experience of working with people on the Autism spectrum, with mental health issues, learning difficulties, Care leavers, ex-offenders, women, BAME communities.
- Experience of working in a social enterprise or small charity
- Safeguarding accreditations
- Experience of working in a trauma informed way
