About the role
We are looking for a practical, customer focused Field Network Engineer Operative and Help Desk Support Technician to join our growing technical team.
This is a hands on role suited to someone with experience in business IT, networks, connectivity, WiFi and general technical support. You will be working directly with clients on site, supporting network installations, troubleshooting connectivity issues, assisting with business broadband and VoIP setups, and providing help desk support when required.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can work independently, and is confident dealing with customers in a professional and helpful manner.
You will split your time between visiting client sites, carrying out technical installations and maintenance, and supporting customers remotely through the help desk.
Key Responsibilities
- Attending client sites to install, configure and troubleshoot network equipment
- Supporting business broadband, WiFi, VoIP and connectivity installations
- Setting up routers, switches, access points and other network hardware
- Diagnosing and resolving internet, network and basic IT support issues
- Providing first line and second line help desk support to business customers
- Supporting customers by phone, email and remote access tools
- Escalating more complex technical issues where required
- Liaising with suppliers, engineers and internal team members to resolve customer issues
- Carrying out site surveys and basic network checks
- Maintaining accurate notes, job records and customer documentation
- Supporting project rollouts, upgrades and new customer installations
- Acting as a professional technical contact for customers on site and remotely
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in a technical support, field engineering, network support or IT service role
- A good understanding of business networks, routers, switches, WiFi and broadband connectivity
- Experience with help desk support or customer technical support
- Confidence troubleshooting connectivity, hardware and general IT issues
- Strong communication skills and a professional customer facing manner
- Ability to work independently when visiting client sites
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new systems and technologies
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant IT or networking qualifications are advantageous, such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco or similar
