Job Description:
In this role, you will apply broad mechanical design experience to create robust solutions for new products and for integrating modern technologies into legacy systems to deal with obsolescence and upgrade. Using the Siemens NX CAD system to create 3D solid modelled designs to support hardware development and produce detailed manufacturing data packs. You will be part of the full design lifecycle, from initial concept through to detailed development and delivery, resolving engineering challenges along the way. As part of a multi disciplined team you will ensure designs meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements.
Core duties:
- Create 3D solid modelled designs, for a wide range of products from small components to sub-assemblies
- You will create conceptual design schemes from engineering information
- You will liaise with sub-contract manufacturers and suppliers
- You will create detailed manufacturing data at component and assembly levels
- You will implement design change, investigate problem reports and raise engineering change records
- You will provide post-delivery support and resolve obsolescence issues
- You will use the SAP PDM tool for maintaining and updating design data
Essential Skills:
- You will have relevant Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical qualifications or experience
- You will have an understanding of BS8888 Engineering Drawing standards
- You will have an understanding of manufacturing processes and experience in Electro-Mechanical assembly
- You will have knowledge/experience of design for manufacture and design for maintainability practices
