Job Summary
A position is available in our busy, family-run portable accommodation, welfare unit hire & sale business.
This role involves assisting with cabin preparation, material handling, and basic construction tasks. The ideal candidate will have a proactive attitude, be willing to learn, and possess a range of practical skills relevant to construction and site maintenance. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of building and site operations within a dynamic environment .
Duties
- Assisting with the organisation and maintenance of the site cabin yard, including storage and retrieval of materials and tools
- Handling and transporting building materials using manual and powered tools
- Supporting carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing, electrical, welding, and fabrication tasks as directed by supervisors
- Operating hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Assisting with site set-up, including unloading deliveries and preparing work areas for ongoing projects
- Supporting tradespeople with their tasks by providing necessary materials or assistance
- Ensuring the yard remains clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Participating in general labouring duties across the construction site as required
Requirements
- Previous experience or practical knowledge in carpentry, roofing, construction painting, cleaning, plumbing, masonry, welding, electrical work or fabrication is highly desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Experience working with generators is desirable
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely
- Physically fit with the ability to lift heavy loads (up to 25kg) and perform manual labour throughout the day
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures on construction sites
- Full UK driving licence is required
- Reliable, punctual, with a positive attitude towards work tasks
