We are recruiting for our Broadway Engineering and Broadway AVPE (formerly known as AVPE Systems) businesses for their Bristol based facilities. We are looking for CNC Miller Setter Operators to play a crucial role in the manufacturing process of high specification metallic components by setting, and operating CNC machines. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality parts that meet strict industry standards and specifications. You will work alongside our manufacturing engineers to optimise production process and achieve efficient and accurate machining operations.
Role:
Responsible for the setup and operation of CNC machines. Your expertise in machine setup, and precision machining will ensure the production of high-quality parts that meet strict industry specifications. You will work closely with engineers, and other manufacturing personnel to achieve efficient and accurate machining operations.
Responsibilities:
- Setting and operating 3/4/5 axis CNC milling machines using Heidenhain/Fanuc controls
- Producing high complexity components from a range of materials
- Adhering to quality standards
- Involvement and attendance at SQDCP meetings in assigned area/s
- Ensuring performance of part production to planned set and run times and Quality requirements
- Communicating Not Right first time (NRFT) within assigned areas
- Assisting the Manufacturing Group Leader in improving the 5S organisation of the team area
- Responsible for ensuring correct materials, Route Cards, drawing are used to produce components
- Setting up tools, offsets etc ready for your own operation to commence and assist Operators where appropriate
- Ensuring Delivery Schedule Adherence of parts to system / route card dates
- Flexibility to work at our other Group site in Bristol if required
Machine Set up
- Experience in setting up CNC machines, including installing workpieces, fixtures, cutting tools.
- Ability to set Work offsets with probes and manually by wobble bar/DTI clock.
- Ability to select and install appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and fixtures for the machining process.
CNC Machining Skills:
- ·CNC Setter/Operators must have a keen eye for detail and the ability to monitor the machining process closely, making adjustments to tooling or machine settings as necessary to maintain precision and quality.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in operating CNC machines, specifically Heidenhain and/or Fanuc Controls
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Desirable: strong understanding of CNC programming languages.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adherence to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment – Zero Tolerance to safety.
- Knowledge of machine guarding, lockout/tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements exercised in accordance with company policy and procedure (including standard operating, health and safety and HR procedures)
- Compliance with company policies, quality standards, and relevant industry regulations.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and engineers.
- Ability to document and maintain accurate production records, including setup sheets, tool lists & kits
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, machining techniques, and process improvements.
Skills & Experience.
- Setting and operating 3/4/5 axis CNC milling machines using Heidenhain controls
- Producing high complexity components from a range of materials
- Adhering to quality standards
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and Engineering drawings
- Previous aerospace experience (Desirable)
- Good working knowledge of component dimensions using various inspection equipment - including but not limited to Micrometers, Verniers and Plug Gauges.
- Ability to produce components to drawing tolerance and specifications, efficiently and accurately as required by internal and external customer specification
- BPSS security will be required
Hours of Work, Remuneration & Benefits
Across the Group, we have a variety of working patterns
We can offer days (Monday-Thursday 7.30-16.00 and Friday 7.30-12.30) and a late shift (Monday-Thursday 14.00-0.00 with shift premium) at Broadway Engineering, or double day pattern at Broadway AVPE (rotating between earlies 6.00-14.00 Monday-Thursday and 6.00-11.00 Friday and lates 14.00-22.00 Monday-Thursday and 11.00-16.00 Friday with shift premium).
Although candidates will primarily be based at one site, as we are a Group there may be the occasional request to support at another site (with reasonable notice).
