The starting salary is £37,000 rising to £38,110 following successful probation (we do not offer shift enhancements)

No two days in custody healthcare are the same. At Sonar Cares, you'll work as an autonomous clinician within police custody suites, providing high-quality healthcare to vulnerable individuals at times when they need it most. You'll assess, treat and support detainees whilst working alongside police officers and partner agencies to ensure safe, effective care.

The Role
As a Healthcare Professional, you will independently assess and manage detainees presenting with a wide range of physical and mental health needs.
Working within your professional scope of practice, you'll determine whether individuals are fit for detention, interview, transfer or release, whilst providing appropriate treatment, clinical advice and onward referrals where required.
The ideal candidate will be a confident clinician who enjoys working autonomously and making sound clinical decisions.
Main Responsibilities
· Deliver autonomous clinical care within police custody suites.
· Undertake physical and mental health assessments.
· Assess fitness for detention, interview, transfer and release.
· Treat minor illness and injury and refer where appropriate.
· Assess alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
· Complete forensic injury documentation and examinations where required.
· Maintain accurate clinical records and reports.
· Work within PACE Code C and relevant legislation.
· Liaise with police officers, custody staff, ambulance services and partner agencies.
· Attend Court or Tribunal when required.
· Maintain professional registration, clinical competencies and mandatory training.
Essential
· Registered Adult General Nurse( RGN) or Registered Paramedic.
· Minimum two years' post-registration experience (or as required by the contract).
· Current unrestricted NMC or HCPC registration.
· Venepuncture competency.
· Previous experience within areas such as A&E, Acute Medicine, Urgent Care, Practice Nursing, Community Nursing or Drug & Alcohol Services and prisons (other relevant experience will also be considered).
· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (where required).
· Ability to obtain Police Vetting clearance.
Desirable
· Previous custody, forensic or prison healthcare experience.
· Mental Health assessment experience.
· Leadership or mentoring experience.
