HR & Payroll Manager

KT Flooring Ltd is looking for an experienced, organised and confident HR & Payroll Manager to take ownership of our HR and payroll function.
We are a busy, family-run commercial flooring company based in North Tyneside. As our business and workforce have grown, we’re looking for someone who can bring structure, consistency and experience to the people side of the business.
This is a varied, hands-on position. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, advise management when needed and confidently manage HR and payroll matters from start to finish.
Hours & Flexibility
This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week.
We are happy to offer flexibility around how the 24 hours are worked and can discuss the working pattern with the right candidate.
The hours could be worked across three full days or spread across more days depending on the successful candidate’s circumstances and the needs of the business.
The role will primarily be office based in North Tyneside.
Key Responsibilities
HR
Managing employment contracts, offer letters and employee documentation
Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
Managing sickness, absence and return-to-work procedures
Managing disciplinary, grievance and capability processes
Providing practical HR advice and guidance to directors and managers
Ensuring appropriate HR procedures are followed and documented
Monitoring attendance, timekeeping and holidays
Managing probation periods and performance processes
Supporting recruitment, interviews and onboarding
Managing new starters and leavers
Developing and maintaining company policies and procedures
Keeping the business up to date with changes in UK employment legislation
Supporting training and employee development
Handling sensitive or difficult employee situations professionally and confidently
Helping us maintain a fair, professional and accountable working environment
Payroll
Preparing and processing payroll accurately and on time
Maintaining employee payroll records
Processing new starters and leavers
Calculating and processing overtime, holiday pay, sickness and other payroll adjustments
Processing statutory payments including SSP, SMP and SPP where applicable
Managing pension contributions and auto-enrolment requirements
Responding to employee payroll queries
Liaising with our accountant and external providers where required
Producing payroll information and reports for management
Ensuring payroll records and processes remain accurate and compliant
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working across both HR and payroll
Has a good working knowledge of UK employment law
Has experience dealing with employee relations matters
Is confident managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance procedures
Has a good understanding of UK payroll requirements
Is comfortable advising directors and managers on HR matters
Can have difficult conversations when required while remaining fair and professional
Has excellent attention to detail
Is highly organised and able to manage their own workload
Understands the importance of confidentiality
Is approachable and able to build good relationships with employees
Is comfortable working in a busy, hands-on, family-run business
A CIPD and/or payroll qualification would be advantageous, although strong practical HR and payroll experience is equally important to us.

This isn’t simply an administrative position. We want someone who is confident, experienced and capable of advising us on the correct processes while making sure the day-to-day HR and payroll side of the business runs smoothly.
