Our busy bakery is looking for a reliable, hands-on person to take ownership of our online order dispatch process and split their time between our production kitchen and shop. This isn't a role where you'll simply be handed packing tasks; we need someone who runs dispatch day-to-day, spots and fixes problems before they become issues, and takes pride in the system working smoothly.
The dispatch side of the role typically takes up around half the day. For the rest, you'll be baking and finishing our macarons and cakes. This role will also include covering shop shifts when our retail team are on annual leave, which may sometimes include a weekend. The Role at a Glance

Dispatch & Fulfilment — Yours to Own
Take full ownership of day-to-day online order dispatch, not just picking and packing, but making sure the whole process runs on time, every time.
Pick, pack, and dispatch online, wholesale, and shop orders.
Manage the online order dispatch system (we'll train you - most of it is automated and needs only basic IT skills), flagging issues and suggesting improvements.
Monitor packaging stock levels.
Keep the dispatch area clean, organised, and running efficiently.
Occasionally drive shop deliveries in our work van (driving licence required).
Bakery, Shop & Holiday Cover Duties
Fill macarons and help prepare our other small and large cakes.
Cover shifts in our shop - serving customers, running the till, and keeping displays looking their best - whenever shop staff are on annual leave, including occasional weekends.
Contribute to general kitchen cleaning.
Collaborate with the team to make sure all orders are completed on time.
What We're Looking For
Someone who wants to own a process, not just complete tasks — you'll be trusted to run dispatch with minimal supervision.
Comfortable moving between behind-the-scenes dispatch work and customer-facing shop work.
Previous professional kitchen or retail experience is a bonus but not essential.
A love of baking, great food, and a genuinely tidy, organised way of working.
Strong communication skills - you’ll work with the bakery team and, during cover shifts, directly with customers.
Flexible, positive attitude and pride in getting the details right.
Basic IT confidence (full training given on our order system — no specialist knowledge required).
Full driving licence, to contribute to shop deliveries in our work van.
Hours & Location
Core hours are 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday (8am–4pm, 45-minute lunch break). During weeks when you're covering shop staff annual leave, your working days/hours may shift to match the shop's opening rota - occasionally including a weekend day. We’ll always agree this with you in advance.
Our bakery is on the Hellesdon Hall Industrial Estate, Norwich (opposite ASDA), with bus stops right outside and easy staff parking.
