Job Title: Design Manager/Design Coordinator
Reporting to: BUGM
Business Unit: Renewables Scotland
The Design Manager/Design Coordinator is required by the Omexom Scotland Renewables Business Unit working closely with the BUGM, Bid manager, Project Managers, Site Supervisors and Design Engineers and other members of the engineering business unit to coordinate all of the design-related matters on construction projects, helping to keep work running smoothly and on time.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Be involved and liaise with the BUGM, PM and Bid manager at tender stage to ensure the tender submissions are robust and fit for purpose from a design point of view adding engineering value as required.
Managing the design processes involved in a construction project, including ensuring that drawings are ready on time, reviewing designs and making them available to the appropriate people.
Liaising with clients, designers and other related third parties on design-related matters.c
Establishing and maintaining effective methods of communication between the teams involved in design work throughout the project.
Maintaining records and documents throughout the project.
Assessing, mitigating, and managing risks connected with design.
Ensuring designs and design work meets health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards.
Managing the design team.
Chairing design meetings, writing reports and giving presentations.
Represent Omexom professionally in various internal and external stakeholders.
Work closely with Project Managers to manage project costs and income, ensuring commercial targets are met.
Provide technical support to the engineering team, continuously looking for improvement in the work package delivery process.
Attend and undertake meetings with clients, contractors and consultants as required.

The job holder shall be a motivated self-starter, possessing:
Proven experience as Design manager/Senior Project Manager/Project manager delivering civils and electrical design & build projects.
Master degree in either Electrical or Civils engineering.
A sound working knowledge of HV electrical infrastructure, safety rules / legislation and CDM (UK) / Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations.
Previous management experience, including, the ability and willingness to address poor performance.
A good level of commercial awareness with the ability to monitor and accurately report performance against pre-determined targets.
Exceptional customer focus.

Experience and understanding of working within contract terms and conditions.
Good working knowledge relevant computer packages including Microsoft office products.
