Full job description

Job Title: Engineering Project Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 depending on experience. Plus, bonus scheme based on wider business and local performance targets. Negotiable dependent on experience.

Job Role

The Engineering Project Coordinator will support the delivery of switchgear and package substation projects by coordinating technical information, design actions, documentation, and project updates between engineering, production, planning, commercial teams, and customers.

This role is suited to an engineer with developing technical knowledge who is ready to take on more responsibility than a Junior Engineer/CAD Technician, while continuing to work under the guidance of Design Engineers and Senior Design Engineers.

The post holder will help ensure that project information is accurate, actions are followed up, documentation is controlled, and internal teams have the information needed to support on-time project delivery.

Directly reporting to the Engineering Manager.

Main responsibilities include:

· Coordinate assigned engineering project activities, ensuring actions, drawings, documentation, and technical queries are progressed in line with project requirements.

· Support the review of customer requirements and specifications, escalating technical or commercial concerns to the Design Engineer, Senior Design Engineer, or Engineering Manager where required.

· Work closely with electrical designers, CAD Technicians, production, planning, procurement, and commercial teams to help projects progress smoothly.

· Assist with the coordination of design, manufacturing, testing, FAT, installation, and commissioning information, ensuring updates are communicated to relevant stakeholders.

· Review basic project drawings and technical documentation for completeness and consistency, with support from Design Engineers where technical approval is required.

· Support the preparation and checking of technical documentation such as load schedules, cable calculations, material lists, drawing registers, and project trackers.

· Liaise with production and procurement teams to support the creation of bills of materials, component specifications, and project-related purchasing information.

· Contribute to improvements in project coordination, document control, engineering processes, and standard ways of working within the department.

Required Skills:

· 2+ years of experience within an electrical engineering, design, project coordination, or technical manufacturing environment.

· Formal engineering qualification within an electrical discipline, or equivalent practical experience in an engineering environment.

· A high-level understanding of MV/HV, switchgear, substations, or power distribution would be advantageous.

· Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple project actions, deadlines, and stakeholders at once.

· Knowledge of AutoCAD, EPLAN, SAP, or similar engineering/project systems would be beneficial but is not essential.

· Awareness of UK electrical standards, DNO requirements, protection and control systems, or BS7671 would be advantageous, but full technical ownership is not expected at this level.

· Confident communicator able to follow up actions, clarify requirements, and share updates with internal teams and customers in a professional manner.

· Detail-oriented and proactive, with a focus on accuracy, document control, and supporting high-quality project delivery.

· Able to work effectively as part of a team and willing to support colleagues across engineering, production, and commercial functions where required.

· A practical problem-solving approach and willingness to develop technical knowledge through mentoring, project exposure, and on-the-job training.

· Occasional travel to customer sites or Ormazabal factories may be required, depending on project needs.

Working Hours

Ø Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm

Ø Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
