Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced clinician to lead our Neuro Vocational Rehabilitation Service (VRS) in Southampton.
VRS is an OT led service dedicated to working with people with a variety of predominantly neuro conditions including Stroke, Brain Injury, MS, Spinal Injury & Long Covid. Intervention aims to support an individual to achieve goals to succeed in a vocation and return to employment.
Rehab is tailored to meet the needs of the individual, with the outpatient setting offering facilities that include a workshop, kitchen, IT suite and garden. Rehab can include a group workshop to complete individual project work, the 'Building Skills for Work' group programme and 1:1 OT sessions.
The post holder will have post graduate experience which should include some specific neuro clinical experience, excellent leadership skills and evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of service improvement projects or audits is desirable.
The post holder will be supported by our Service Leads and work closely with other team members including OTs, Rehab Assistants and admin support.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
- To support with the co-ordination and development of the provision of an effective and efficient Vocational Rehabilitation Service (VRS) within Southampton / South West Hants.
- To provide highly specialist therapy skills within VRS.
- To undertake advanced specialist therapeutic assessments and treatment for your own caseload of patients with diverse and complex conditions, developing and delivering individualised treatment programmes.
- To be an advocate for patient empowerment and promote a rehab ethos in all elements of patient care and activity.
- To support the case management process by providing expert clinical advice and therapy to patients with a variety of complex conditions.
- To assist senior staff in the education and supervision of junior colleagues, assistants and students.
- To assist senior staff in development and maintenance of an efficient and effective therapy service.
- To support senior and junior staff to develop their skills and map their development needs alongside the workforce plan.
- To provide strong clinical and operational leadership within the VRS team, which inspires, motivates and empowers the team and promotes a structure of clear authority and credibility, embedding a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement within their area of responsibility.
- To support managers in planning, delivering and evaluating care pathways and together lead the planning, delivery / evaluation of all elements of rehab programmes.
