Hours - 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
This permanent role offers a salary that meets or exceeds the National Living Wage, a company pension, employee discounts, 28 days' paid annual leave (including public holidays where applicable), and a 35-hour working week with an early finish every Friday.
About the role
We’re looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking individual to assist our production team in our day-to-day operations on the factory floor.
As a Leather Cutter, you will primarily work in our cutting team and be responsible for cutting the leather panels used to make our jackets.
Using pre-made patterns, you'll cut the individual leather panels that our machinists assemble into finished jackets. You'll also make occasional manual adjustments to accommodate customer-requested sizing changes and carefully match the shade and grain of leather between panels to ensure every jacket meets our quality standards. You'll play an important role in the manufacture of every Aero jacket, ensuring each one starts with accurately cut, carefully matched leather panels that meet our exacting standards.
As part of the role, you'll be responsible for accurately measuring components and carrying out self-quality checks to ensure your work meets our high standards before it progresses through production. You'll also be expected to work towards weekly production targets while maintaining the quality and attention to detail for which Aero is known.
Please note that this role involves standing at a cutting table for a large part of the day.
As we're a small, close-knit team, you may occasionally be asked to assist in other areas of the factory to support production when required.
Experience in clothing manufacturing or working with leather or garment patterns (for example, sewing or pattern cutting) would be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

You'll need to be comfortable working independently, using your own initiative, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace to help minimise mistakes and keep production running smoothly.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in producing high-quality craftsmanship and is happy carrying out tasks requiring concentration with accuracy and consistency.

Aero Leathers are a vintage clothing company specialising in manufacturing leather jackets. We’re seen by many in our niche industry as the manufacturers of the finest and toughest leather jackets in the world, famed for kick-starting the industry shift to horsehide in the 1980s and pioneering the reproduction leather jacket industry in the 40 years since.
Today, we continue to craft faithful reproductions of the finest leather jackets of the early and mid-20th century using some of the world's best leathers. Every Aero jacket is made entirely by hand in our Galashiels factory without shortcuts - an increasingly rare approach that reflects our commitment to quality.
Although our jackets are what we’re most famous for, over the years we’ve also designed and curated a large range of clothing and accessories to complement the jackets we make and have become the go-to vintage clothing brand for aficionados and casual buyers alike.
We’re a family-run business, and we have a team of around 25 working at our Galashiels factory. We sell both retail and wholesale to customers across the UK and around the world, with our largest international markets being the United States, Japan and Germany.
We’ve invested a lot in our growth over the last few years, including successfully launching a new website and order management system. This year, we’re looking to build on our recent growth and we’re looking for hardworking and energetic individuals to join our team and grow with us!
