Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Green Space Clinical Lead to join our Community Mental Health Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered mental health professional to lead the development of nature-based and green space interventions that support recovery, improve wellbeing and strengthen community connections. Growing evidence highlights the positive impact that access to green spaces can have on mental health, wellbeing and social inclusion.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, voluntary sector organisations and community partners, you will help embed green social prescribing and outdoor wellbeing opportunities into mental health pathways. You will play a key role in developing innovative programmes that enable people to connect with nature, build resilience and support their recovery journey.

Experience of green social prescribing, outdoor therapeutic interventions, community development or wellbeing programmes would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

What you'll do

Lead the development and delivery of green space and nature-based mental health initiatives.
Provide specialist clinical advice on the use of outdoor and nature-based interventions.
Facilitate and support programmes such as wellbeing walks, therapeutic gardening, conservation projects and outdoor recovery groups.
Work in partnership with local organisations, community groups and green social prescribing providers.
Evaluate outcomes and demonstrate the impact of interventions on wellbeing and recovery.
Support colleagues to adopt innovative, recovery-focused approaches to care.

About You

You will be:

A registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or other registered mental health professional.
Passionate about recovery-oriented and person-centred care.
Experienced in community mental health services.
Skilled in partnership working and service development.
Motivated to develop innovative approaches that improve outcomes for people with mental health needs.

We’re an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people’s physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

Current professional registration
Professional qualification
Masters qualification or equivalent relevant experience
Substantial community mental health/crisis experience and Working knowledge of crisis assessment and intervention
Experience of green social prescribing/therapeutic horticulture, ecotherapy or nature- based interventions

Desirable criteria

Experience leading service development projects & quality improvement initiatives
Experience securing external funding

Knowledge and abilities

Essential criteria

Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and other mental health legislation
