Full job description

Job Title: Legal Practice Support - Employment Law
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Maternity Cover (Potential Permanent Opportunity)
Location: Southampton (Hybrid Working Available)
Hours: Minimum 25 Hours per Week
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

About the Role

We are a specialist employment law practice seeking an organised and proactive individual to support the day-to-day running of the firm during a maternity cover period.

The role combines legal practice support with the opportunity to assist solicitors on supervised legal work, including legal research, drafting and the use of AI-powered legal technology. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity for the role to continue on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities

Managing client files and enquiries.
Preparing, formatting and proofreading documents and correspondence.
Supporting billing, compliance, office administration and practice management.
Assisting with marketing, website content and client communications.
Conducting legal and factual research under supervision.
Preparing first drafts of routine legal documents and correspondence.
Assisting with tribunal bundles, document management and case preparation.
Using approved AI tools to support legal research, drafting and process improvement.

About You

You will have:

Excellent organisational, communication and IT skills.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

The following would be advantageous:

Experience in legal administration, office management or a similar professional support role.

An interest in employment law, legal technology and AI.
Legal research or drafting experience.
