Seafront General Assistant

Role Purpose

You will be required to assist across a number of seafront functions and commercial activities. This is a challenging but rewarding role suited to candidates looking to work in a highly dynamic and varied role with a customer delivery focus. Applicants must be available to start their new role from 16th March 2026

Main Responsibilities

You will need to be able to work as part of a team and independently as required using your own initiative. You will work proactively with all members of the public and the wider team, including external agencies and contractors. Enthusiasm and commitment to providing a safe, clean and inclusive seafront is essential. To support this, the position involves engaging with the public on public-safety and environmental issues such as litter and ranges from providing tourist information to enforcement of Seafront Bylaws, collecting payments, maximising income and enhancing visitor experience.

As no two days are the same, the dynamic nature of the role means a flexible approach is crucial to ensure the appropriate level of support is given to all functions across BCP Seafront Operations, including, but not limited to:

General Assistant (Boscombe and Southbourne Seafront)
General Assistant (Christchurch Seafront)
Deckchair Attendant (Boscombe and Southbourne Seafront)
Mini Golf Attendant
Cliff Lift Attendant (Fisherman's Walk)

The Ideal Candidate

Some experience of dealing with the public and customers.
Knowledge of the detailed instructions, processes and procedures to be followed.
Some knowledge of the seafront area, attractions, and services available.
Ability to follow instructions and respond to customer requests.
Ability to communicate with the public and colleagues in a clear and courteous manner.
