The Role

Location: Hurn, Dorset

Hours: Full-time 37 hours | Permanent

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to join the Draken Chief Technology Officer team, supporting a range of internal and customer projects involving software-intensive and mission-critical systems. This is a Systems Engineering role focused on system architecture, requirements management, integration, verification and validation, rather than software development.

You will play a key role in defining and managing software-enabled system capabilities, supporting activities such as requirements capture, system design, interface definition, integration, testing and through-life support. Working as part of an Integrated Delivery Team (IDT), you will collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers to deliver safe, high-quality solutions that meet operational and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design, integration, testing and through-life support of software-enabled mission systems.
Assist in the development of system requirements, architectures and interface definitions.
Work collaboratively with internal teams, customers and external suppliers to deliver technical solutions.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, test procedures and reports.
Contribute to technical reviews, meetings and project delivery activities within Integrated Delivery Teams (IDTs).

Share technical knowledge and support the development of team capability.

Undertake occasional UK and overseas travel as required.

Experience & Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
Experience in Systems Engineering, including system design, integration, verification and validation.
Understanding of software-intensive systems, software lifecycles, architecture principles and configuration management.
Experience developing requirements and maintaining traceability from requirements through to testing and verification.
Ability to develop, execute and document system-level testing activities.
Knowledge of open architectures, modular system design and system interfaces.
Experience working with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to deliver technical solutions.

Desirable:

Professional registration (CEng/IEng) or postgraduate qualification (MEng/MSc).
Experience within aerospace, defence or regulated engineering environments.
Knowledge of airworthiness regulations, safety-critical software standards (e.g. DO-178C), or mission systems.
Understanding of RF, radar, communications or electronic warfare systems.
