We're looking for an organised, proactive and customer-focused Traffic Planner to join our Transport team in Thurrock. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in coordinating our daily transport operation, ensuring deliveries and collections are planned safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations.
Working closely with drivers, warehouse teams, customer service colleagues and operational managers, you'll help keep our transport network running smoothly while delivering excellent service to our customers.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Traffic Planner, you'll be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring vehicles are planned efficiently while maintaining exceptional customer service and operational performance.
Transport Planning
- Plan daily delivery and collection routes to maximise efficiency and vehicle utilisation.
- Monitor vehicle movements and respond quickly to operational changes and delays.
- Communicate effectively with drivers throughout the day, providing support and route updates.
- Work closely with warehouse, customer service and operational teams to ensure deliveries run smoothly.
Customer Service
- Build strong relationships with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders.
- Provide accurate updates regarding deliveries and collections.
- Resolve transport-related queries professionally and efficiently.
- Help deliver excellent service by meeting customer expectations and agreed service levels.
Compliance & Administration
- Prepare and maintain transport documentation, including load sheets, PODs and delivery paperwork.
- Ensure transport planning activities comply with company procedures and transport legislation.
- Maintain accurate records using our Transport Management Systems.
- Support the Transport Manager with compliance activities and operational reporting.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve transport planning processes and operational efficiency.
- Support business initiatives that enhance service performance and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement across the transport operation.
What We're Looking For
You'll be someone who enjoys working in a fast-moving environment, has excellent organisational skills and takes pride in delivering outstanding customer service.
Essential Experience
✔ Previous experience in a Transport Planner, Traffic Planner or similar logistics planning role.
✔ Experience working within a fast-paced transport or logistics environment.
✔ Good understanding of transport planning principles.
✔ Strong communication and organisational skills.
✔ Excellent attention to detail.
✔ Experience using Microsoft Office and Transport Management Systems (TMS).
✔ Ability to manage changing priorities and make decisions under pressure.
We'd Love to See
- National or International CPC qualification (or working towards).
- Experience within pallet networks, general haulage or contract logistics.
- Knowledge of transport legislation and driver hours regulations.
- Experience producing operational reports and transport KPIs.
- A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
