About Wharfeside Hire
Wharfeside Hire supplies catering equipment, tableware and linen for weddings, corporate events and venues across the region. Every item we deliver must arrive clean, presentable and ready for immediate use.
Behind the scenes, this relies on a well-run wash and preparation process to ensure items returned from events are properly cleaned, checked and prepared for the next hire.
We are looking for a reliable Warehouse Operative to join our wash line team and help maintain the high standards our customers expect.
The Role
This role focuses on processing equipment and linen returned from events and preparing it to be returned to stock.
You will work as part of the warehouse team handling items such as:
- Cutlery
- Crockery
- Glassware
- Linen
- Catering equipment and appliances
You will operate commercial washing equipment and ensure that every item leaving the wash area meets our quality standards.
This is a practical and fast-paced role, particularly during peak event season.
HOURS:
Monday - Wednesday 9-5pm. Potential for overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Sorting returned equipment and linen from events
- Loading and operating commercial dishwashing and washing equipment
- Cleaning and polishing cutlery, crockery and glassware
- Processing linen through washing and drying systems
- Checking items carefully for stains, damage or breakages
- Ensuring all items meet Wharfeside Hire’s quality standards before returning to stock
- Rejecting or reporting items that do not meet required standards
- Organising cleaned equipment ready for warehouse storage
- Maintaining a clean and organised wash area
- Supporting the wider warehouse team during busy periods
Maintaining High Standards
Our customers expect equipment that is clean, polished and ready to use.
This role plays a key part in protecting that reputation. Attention to detail is essential and we expect team members to take pride in maintaining and enforcing high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Items that do not meet our standards should never return to stock.

Previous experience in hospitality, kitchens, cleaning or warehouse environments is helpful but not essential as full training will be provided.
Working Environment
This is a warehouse-based role involving:

- Handling large volumes of equipment and linen
- Working with commercial washing equipment
- Being part of a close-knit operational team
During peak event season the workload increases and flexibility is important.
