As a Manufacturing Engineer , you will play a critical role in bringing new components and processes into production, with a strong focus on CNC machining of stainless steel components .
You will take ownership of manufacturing methods, tooling development, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring products are introduced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the introduction of new components from design through to full production
- Define and document robust manufacturing processes and machining strategies
- Work closely with Design Engineering to optimise designs for manufacture
- Develop and optimise CNC programs using CAM software (e.g. Mastercam, NX, Fusion 360)
- Interpret technical drawings and 3D models to generate accurate toolpaths
- Specify and improve tooling, fixturing, and workholding solutions
- Enhance machining methods to improve quality, repeatability, and cycle time
- Support process capability studies, first-off validation, and production sign-off
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, scrap, and inefficiencies
- Work closely with CNC Programmers, Machinists, and Production teams
- Provide hands-on support during trials and busy production periods
- Maintain accurate manufacturing documentation (routings, instructions, tooling)
- Promote a strong safety culture, including BBSO and near-miss reporting
- Support a proactive environment where employees feel empowered to act
- Champion safe working practices, including stop-work authority
- Proven experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role within a precision environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and cutting strategies
- Demonstrated experience machining stainless steel components
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models
- Experience with CAM software and understanding of G-code
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Practical knowledge of fixturing and workholding design
- Background working across both shop floor and office environments
