We are looking for a trustworthy and enthusiastic person to join Litchdon Medical Centre as a cover caretaker and medication delivery driver.
This role does not have set regular hours but would be flexible to cover annual leave or sickness of our permanent staff.
Working hours for caretaker cover is Monday - Friday 7.30 - 9.30am and 4.00pm - 7.00 or 8.00pm.
Working hours for delivery driver cover is Monday - Thursday 1pm - 3.00 or 4.00pm depending on number of deliveries needed. There can be some flexibility in delivery hours as could start earlier or later if preferred by a suitable candidate.
£12.88 per hour.

Job Purpose:
To carry out the various policies and procedures associated with the operation of the building. Specifically those relating to hygiene, stock, security and access; health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The following list is typical of the level of duties which the post holder will be expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type and level may be required from time to time.
- To carry out the Practice’s security procedures, for locking and securing buildings.
- Carrying out waste management procedures through out the buildings.
- To operate the heating system in accordance with agreed procedures (including frost precaution) to ensure that appropriate temperatures are maintained and hot water in available.
- To provide access to the building in the event of snow (including gritting paths during cold weather conditions, or minor flooding or similar emergency situations).
- To deal with general enquiries from staff, workmen, contractors and members of the public.
- To carry out minor or temporary repairs and maintenance tasks or report as necessary in accordance with agreed procedures.
- As directed by line manager to direct workmen and temporary contractors to the sites of repair and the maintenance work and inspecting the work of contractors where there is a requirement to sign a satisfaction note.
- To carry out porterage duties as required, including the co-ordination of the removal and placement of furniture and equipment.
- To arrange distribution and storage of materials and goods delivered.
- Provide driving cover for the delivery of medication service.
- To ensure the delivery of services in accordance with customer service standards, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required by the line manager or practice manager.
Requirements for role:
Must hold a UK drivers’ licence.

- In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
- In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, Practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the Practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential
- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the Practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:
- Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
- Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
